Fujitsu - Ricoh Rebrand

On September 1st, 2022, Ricoh purchased a company called PFU from Fujitsu. As a result of this, the company’s flagship scanning business will be rebranded from the Fujitsu to the Ricoh brand. Ricoh has been an important strategic partner for PFU for a long time and they have worked on many projects together in Japan and around the world. Ricoh recognised many of the capabilities that PFU has, including their strength in innovation driven by world class engineers, along with their sales and marketing expertise. 

Q: What will this mean for Scanner Shop customers?

A: From April 2023 all fi-series and SP series Fujitsu scanners will be re-branded, products will be the same, apart from the logo on the product changing to Ricoh. All scanners will continue to be made in the same factories by the same people and to the same standards no matter whether they carry a Fujitsu logo, or a Ricoh logo.

Q: What about ScanSnap, will this brand be replaced?

A: ScanSnap stays as ScanSnap, but the Fujitsu logo on the product will change to Ricoh. As with fi- Series and SP series products, they continue to be made in the same factories by the same people and to same standards no matter whether they carry a Fujitsu logo, or a Ricoh logo. 

Q: What about the Paperstream brand, does this change?

A: There are no changes planned with the Paperstream brand of software. 

Q: Will the scanner model numbers, part numbers or barcode numbers change?

A: No.

Q: Will scanner packaging change?

A: Yes, all references to Fujitsu will be changed to Ricoh.

Q: Will your pricing change?

A: There are no plans to change pricing structure because of the transition to Ricoh. Additionally, project support conditions are unchanged. 

Q: How will we know which brand we will receive when we place an order?

A: We will start shipping Ricoh branded scanners from March 2023, and we will do everything we can to ensure that any orders are fulfilled from the same brand (Fujitsu or Ricoh). However, we do acknowledge that for a short period of time, there is a chance to have mixed batches of Fujitsu and Ricoh branded scanners fulfilled within the same order. 

Q: When will you stop shipping Fujitsu branded scanners into the channel?

A: The last date by which Fujitsu branded scanners will be despatched is August 31st, 2023. Please be aware that after this date, it is possible that we will still provide Fujitsu branded scanners, until their own stock has been depleted.
