Why Might You Need to Purchase a Replacement Canon Roller Kit?

Roller kits are essential for effective scanner maintenance. Over time, the roller guides or other moving parts on your scanner/printer may become worn out and not perform as efficiently as they once did when they were new. Rather than purchase a new scanner, however, you can keep yours in tiptop shape by simply replacing the rollers.

How do I Replace My Scanner’s Rollers?

The process of removing your scanner’s old or damaged rollers and attaching the new ones will vary depending on your model of scanner or printer. However, for Canon scanners, the process is quite straightforward.

For many of Canon’s models, a message for roller replacement will appear on the scanner screen once it has scanned over 250,000 documents.

  1. Drop down the lid and open up your Canon scanner from either the left or the right of the pickup roller.
  2. You will notice a bar or lever next to the pickup roller – slide this out and flip upwards to release the roller.
  3. Remove the roller and insert the new roller into the same position. Take note of the notches on the roller that match up with the small bar – these must interconnect to ensure the roller is held in place.
  4. Do the same with the other roller.

You will usually need to restart your computer once the rollers have been replaced.
