Future of Scanning: How Wi-Fi Scanners can save you time

If you deal with large amounts of paperwork, then you will know how many steps are involved in scanning documents in order for them to exchange hands.

We at TheScannerShop.com are actively searching for the latest innovations to help us, and you, use our time more efficiently.

Therefore, we have been testing out the new Canon DR-C125W and Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 wireless scanners.

By catching up with the handheld age, these two companies have produced scanners which utilise Wi-Fi access in order to transmit information to any ‘Smart’ device, such as your iPhone, iPad or Android.

Once you have downloaded the respective application to your phone (each scanner has its own corresponding app, which can be found in the Apple App Store, for iPhone, or Google Play, for Android) the scanned document is sent to your ‘Cloud’ account, which means that it can be accessed on any of the said devices and from anywhere in the world, providing that you can attain an internet connection.

After you have downloaded the file, you can quickly email it to a colleague or client which saves you the time, of finding the file on a computer and emailing it from there.

In terms of scanning ability, both of the mentioned document scanners perform at a rate of 25 pages per minute, depending on the strength of the Wi-Fi connection.

Ranging between £330 to £480 for the Canon and £300 to £410 for the Fujitsu, we think that both products represent great value for money and it will be interesting to see how the Wireless Scanner market develops over the coming months.
